[RM006] The Copenhagen Interpretation

This is the sixth of a series of ‘ready mades’, with this term I’m not trying to make an artistic statement, it’s just a way to underline that I haven’t play a huge role in the creation of these pieces, which are just recordings of a sound emitted by a machine.
In this case, the machine is a device from the late eighties that was intended to modify brain waves to relax, relieve stress, etc. The enterprise that built this machine was closed at the beginning of the nineties with a court order. They were accused of misbranded and selling pretended medical devices without the required authorization. Besides, there were attributed epileptic seizures to the use of these machines.

Este es el sexto de una serie de ‘ready mades’, con este término no pretendo hacer ningún tipo de afirmación artística, simplemente es una manera de denotar que yo no he tenido mucho que ver en la realización de estas piezas, ya que simplemente me he limitado a grabar un sonido emitido por una máquina.
En este caso, la máquina en cuestión es un aparato de finales de los años 80 que estaba pensado para alterar las ondas cerebrales con la intención de relajar, aliviar el stress, etc. La empresa que lo fabricaba fue cerrada a principios de los 90 por orden judicial, acusados entre otras cosas de publicidad engañosa y de vender dispositivos supuestamente médicos sin los permisos apropiados. Además, se atribuían a sus aparatos varios casos de ataques de epilepsia.
