“La televisión es un medio que me fascina, pero nunca me han interesado demasiado los programas que se emiten en ella, por eso me atrae fragmentar y distorsionar sus imágenes y sonidos, subvertir su significado y convertirlos en algo que se acerca más a lo que a mí me gustaría encontrar en ese electrodoméstico hipnótico. D_FragTV es una abstracción generada a partir de unos minutos televisivos escogidos al azar. El resultado es cercano al ruido, en sentido visual y sonoro, pero también entendido como interferencia que afecta al proceso de comunicación. No obstante, ¿qué es más ruido? ¿El ‘ruido’ que podamos provocar al distorsionar la televisión o la absurdidad y vacuidad de la mayoría de programas que la pueblan?”

Broadcasting For Reels: Success Through Failure

Place: CKDU 88.1 FM (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), between 8pm and 9:30pm.
I will participate with a sound piece entitled Right Works of Wrong Minutes that was selected for the 2010 Broadcasting For Reels: Success Through Failure audio art broadcast by the Centre of Art Tapes.
You can download the entire broadcast by going to the Program Archives section on the CKDU website and putting in the date and time of the broadcast (November 5 20:00). If you download two hours of broadcast you will be sure to get the whole thing.

Sensxperiment, events 2010

Tomorrow (September 16) will take place the presentation of the audiovisual projections series about sensorial immersion that I’ve co-curated for the Sensxperiment Festival as part of ./mediateletipos))). If you’re interested you can find the complete information at Sensxperiment, and some related texts at ./mediateletipos))). The events include projections of several films by Bruce Conner, Ernie Gehr, Jordan Belson, Jose Antonio Sistiaga, etc., an exhibition about the Dream Machine and live cinema sesions.

Periféricos. Arte Contemporáneo en la Provincia de Córdoba

Today at 20:30 is the inauguration of Periféricos, an exhibition in Cordoba (Spain) for which I’ve write some texts about the Dream Machine and the flicker films, I’ve also made the subtitles in Spanish for the documentary FlicKeR, which will be projected. This project is related to the festival Sensexperiment 2011, in which I’m working as part of mediateletipos.

The idea was to select a ‘personal source code’ related with video (influences, things that you hate or like, whatever… ). You’ll find all the articles here.
