White March

Today is quite an unusual day here… I live in Barcelona since 1993 and I’d never seen before something like that, the city is completely snowed! Right now it’s snowing and I’m hearing thunders and a couple of kids playing. It’s not the first time that I see snow here, but it’s really strange (maybe once in every five years) and usually the snow is quite subtle and incidental and fades away in a couple of hours. Who said global warming?

Tasks, tasks and more tasks…

Lately I’ve been working a lot. Besides my ‘official’ job as translator and my own projects I’m collaborating (as part of mediateletipos) with the festival Sensxperiment and we have a lot of things in perspective.

Right now we are already publishing some texts on the subject of the festival, Sensory Immersion, but we are also preparing the first exhibition, centred in the Dreamachine. Today I’ve finished the translation of the film FLicKeR, by Nik Sheehan, that will be one of the two stars of the exhibition, the other one will be, of course, a Dreamachine.

I hadn’t translated subtitles before and it’s a hard job, and quite slow. Fortunately, we had the original transcript in English, but still I’ve had to check the film continually.

Is Sunday and I’ve been working all day, and tomorrow the week stars again with its usual rhythm and tasks. Right now it’s raining, but I’m to tired to go out and record this wonderful sound…

Pursuit

Yesterday I dreamed that a group of young men with guns were trying to kill me in some kind of strange game, and tonight I dreamed that a group of teenagers with knives were trying to kill me again. The fact is that the dreams were quite different, but I guess that both were related with not being able to scape from something that is beyond your control.

Wind

Tonight was quite a windy night, I wake up at 05:30 a.m. because of the wind noise, and that’s quite unusual in Barcelona. I spent the rest of the night in bed, half sleep half awake. Suddenly the blind that is just next to my bed started making a really loud noise, and it wasn’t because of the wind because the blind is far from the window, it just separates the bedroom from the living room. I thought immediately that someone was in my room pushing the blind, quite a scary idea because I live alone. The fact is that I was having an hypnagogic hallucination, something that happens to me from time to time, I got up quickly and I saw that the blind was absolutely still: no movement, no noise (it was completely up, as usual). The curious thing is that I don’t remember having heard before hypnagogic sounds, I just saw images.
